People normally have slight side bends of the spine - this provides mitigation of shocks and shaking of the body when jumping, running and walking. The main thing is to determine in time whether deviations from the norm are a violation of posture or uncontrollably progressive scoliosis.

Correct posture for children

Scoliosis (from the Greek scoliosis - "curvature") - lateral curvature of the spine. It differs from a violation of posture in that the changes affect both the bone and muscle structure, while in violation of posture there is an increased muscle tone on the one hand.

Scoliosis occurs in 15-20 percent of children, and girls are several times more likely than boys because girls are less mobile.

The most dangerous for the development of scoliosis is the age of 10 to 14 years, when the skeleton has not yet formed and a long stay at the table does not pass without a trace for the spine. The posture of preschool children also needs to be monitored.

Prevention of curvature of posture in children

  • Become a couch potato Lie on your stomach or back during the day a couple of times for 15 minutes (but not immediately after eating!) is very useful. This allows you to unload the spine.
  • Hang up! It's good to hang from the horizontal bar from time to time. It is necessary to hang passively, without pulling up, without shaking yourself, as much as you have enough strength. Only then, in any case, do not jump off, but carefully lower yourself on your toes.
  • Spread your “wings” In a sitting or standing position, you need to slightly bend your elbows, take them behind your back and bring your shoulder blades together. Behind the back at this moment, something may crunch. You should not be afraid of this, it is completely safe. Such an exercise in violation of posture can be repeated 8-10 times a day for 2-3 weeks in a row, followed by a 2-3 week break.

Does your child have scoliosis?

The first thing you should pay attention to: if one ear is higher than the other, this is a sign of cervical scoliosis. The second sign is a different height of the shoulders, shoulder blades, different bulge of the shoulder blades, a different gap between the arms and hips (especially if one hand rests on the thigh and the other does not) or some other asymmetry of the body.

Violation of posture in children by age group

  • 7-9 years - 27%;
  • 10-14 years - 40%;
  • 15-17 years - 33%
