Cleaning summer accessories

Now is the time to put your favorite things in order. When summer comes again, they will look like new

Main issues:

1. Wicker bags and straw hats.

2. Purses and handbags in light leather.

3. Sandals and flip-flops.

Quick fix

What you need:

• Soft eraser

• Liquid glycerin soap or gel

• Warm water

• Cloth (an old knit T-shirt or dish towel)

• Soft toothbrush

• Carpet or upholstery cleaner

1. Tidying up the braid

The soft, breathable texture gives wickerwork a charming effect, but at the same time collects a lot of dust and causes a lot of trouble to clean. Such accessories cannot be washed, let alone washed, as they will lose their shape.

Use a large, soft, sticky eraser instead.

Gently wipe off ingrained dust and dirt along the weaves. And don't forget to turn the eraser over to the clean side as it gets dirty.

2. We wash light skin and fabric

On products made of dark leather (purses or bags) greasy stains from fingers and dirty stains are not so noticeable. But summer accessories, as a rule, are made of light materials, so they are not so practical, they quickly wear out and become covered with dust. However, do not get upset ahead of time. Leather and fabric handbags and wallets can be cleaned in a simple way. Mix a small amount of glycerin gel (soap) for the face with two glasses of warm water. Dip a soft cloth into the solution, wring it out well, and wipe the surface of the bag (try on an inconspicuous area first to make sure the color doesn't change). Spend more time on heavily soiled areas. Rinse with a cloth and use it to wipe off any remaining soapy residue. And then wipe the skin dry and buff with a microfiber cloth.

3. Refreshing summer shoes

Even if you haven't had a chance to walk along the sea coast this summer and you have never been caught in the pouring rain, your summer shoes still need care. Leather and fabric sandals become dusty and discolor very quickly. Therefore, it is important to clean them without water so that the straps do not lose their shape, shrink or peel off. To do this, use the same product that you usually use to clean carpets. Apply a little foam to the shoes and rub with a soft toothbrush. Let the product dry for 30 minutes, then wipe off the remaining foam. Repeat the procedure again if necessary.

To make it easier next time:

• Before wearing light leather accessories or shoes, treat them with an all-purpose leather protectant that can be purchased at a shoe store.

• Straw and wicker bags and hats should be cleaned from time to time with a dry soft brush to keep dust from eating into the fibres.

• Keep light-colored bags separate from dark ones by wrapping them in cloth or folding them in an old pillowcase, away from house dust.
