Recruiting portal SuperJob.ru interviewed 3,000 respondents from all districts of the country who answered the question: "Which book (from fiction) do you consider the best?". The rating was headed by Bulgakov's novel "The Master and Margarita". She was chosen by 16% of the respondents. For 7% of Russians, the best book is Tolstoy's War and Peace. "Crime and Punishment" F.M. Dostoevsky is the best book according to 3% of Russians. Dostoyevsky's novels The Idiot and The Brothers Karamazov were also among the best literary works.

Tolstoy and Dostoevsky were most often named by people over 35 years old, and Bulgakov won the hearts of all generations of Russians who answered.

Also the list of the best books includes: "The Count of Monte Cristo" and "The Three Musketeers" by A. Dumas, "Eugene Onegin" by A.S. Pushkin, "Woe from Wit" by A.S. Griboyedov, "Dead Souls" N.V. Gogol, "Anna Karenina" L.N. Tolstoy, "Three Comrades" and "All Quiet on the Western Front" by E.M. Remark.

At the same time, 22% of Russians found it difficult to name the best book. According to some, their literary preferences change "depending on the mood". Others believe that there are “many worthy books” in the world to choose one. There were also those who admitted that in recent years they read exclusively special literature or do not pick up books at all.
