Working Women's Day

Today the United States celebrates American Business Women's Day. The holiday is a little over 10 years old, and has not yet become international, as many feminists consider it not quite politically correct.

The initiator of the proclamation of this holiday was the national professional association of women (American Business Women's Association), which decided that the country underestimated the role of women in the formation and development of the economy and improving the well-being of US residents.

To show that women are still appreciated, there will be celebrations and celebrations across America today. There are currently over 57 million working women in the US.

Despite the fact that Working Women's Day is not celebrated in Europe, nevertheless, they try to comply with a kind of "quota" for the presence of women in various management structures. For example, the Council of Europe and other international forums deprive those delegations that do not have one-third of women working in the areas that are discussed at this or that forum.

In Russia, by the way, there are more working women than working men. This was announced in March of this year by the chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy and He alth, Valentina Petrenko, in an interview. According to her, women make up 54% of the population in our country, which is 10.4 million more than men. At the same time, 49.4% of women work officially (it is difficult to say how many work unofficially). It is known that women in Russia occupy 28% of leadership positions, mainly in the social sphere and in small business.

Perhaps after some time this holiday will be celebrated not only in the USA. In this case, Russian women will have "the second eighth of March."
