The University of Copenhagen conducted a two-year study in which 100 pre-menopausal women were divided into three groups. One was for football, another for running, and a third was created to compare results with the first two. In it, the ladies led a normal life, without regular sports activities.

According to the head of the study, Professor Peter Krustrup, the group of football players showed the most impressive results. “Women who played football had an increased heart rate, they were excellent at running, jumping, kicking, various movements,” says Prof. Krustrup. “All of this makes football the most effective combination of cardio and strength training.”

The study data will be published in the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports next week. And the most important proof of the benefits of football was found after the completion of the study. The group of female soccer players still continues to meet and play.
