The next time you're in pain, try not taking medication. Look at the pictures of your loved ones

For example, we can take pictures of people dear to our hearts with us to the clinic if some painful tests await us. In addition, if loved ones (or pets) are next to us during a pain attack, then the level of discomfort decreases significantly.

However, the role of loved ones in overcoming pain has been known for a long time. And now, scientists from the University of Los Angeles decided to find out if all this applies to photographic images.

They enlisted 28 women to study, who courageously agreed to go through painful tests in which tiny parts of their hands were exposed to hot objects. Women had to endure until it really hurt.

First, the subjects held the hand of their partners, who were behind the curtain, then the hands of strangers. And then they looked at photos of loved ones, pictures of strangers, and letters from those who made them feel tender.

The results showed that the most pronounced analgesic effect is in photographs. Women looking at pictures could endure pain for much longer than even when they held the hands of loved ones.
