Autumn holidays in Moscow schools have been extended for a week. This was reported in the Department of Education of the city of Moscow. This decision was made by the City Sanitary and Epidemiological Commission and the Operational Headquarters for the Prevention of Influenza. This was done to reduce the development of SARS and influenza among schoolchildren

For the time being, preschool educational institutions, kindergartens, as well as institutions of additional education, children's art centers, children's art houses will work as usual.

But mass events involving children will be canceled for this period. Recall, as of November 1, more than 160 thousand people fell ill with SARS and influenza in Moscow, most of them are children.

Autumn holidays are also extended in all regions where the epidemic threshold for the incidence of influenza and SARS has been exceeded. School holidays were extended for a week in Tomsk, Chelyabinsk, the Amur Region and the Primorsky Territory. Quarantine has also been announced in Komi universities. The authorities of the Perm Territory and the Murmansk Region announced the start of an influenza epidemic in their regions.

And the Minister of He alth and Social Development of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova urged the population and the media not to sow panic in connection with the spread of H1N1 flu.

Golikova said that the incidence of SARS and influenza in Russia corresponds to the same indicator recorded in 2008 and 2007. She also noted that mortality from influenza H1N1 does not exceed mortality from seasonal infection.

According to the minister, the severe course of the new flu is noted in 5-6 percent of cases. Complications requiring intensive care develop in about 1.5 percent of infections.

Golikova noted the consciousness of the citizens of the Russian Federation, which manifested itself in the systematic implementation of the prevention of influenza H1N1. In addition, she recalled the recommendations of the World He alth Organization to prevent infection. According to the minister, it is necessary to wash hands more often, avoid close contact with sick people, if you feel unwell, do not go to work, and also take antiviral drugs.

“I would like to emphasize that despite the seriousness of the problem, the way it is presented in some media causes people to have unnecessary and unreasonable fears. I would like to appeal to both the population and journalists: there is no need to sow panic, there are no grounds for this,” Golikova concluded.

November 3, the leadership of Rospotrebnadzor decided to refuse to diagnose each case of H1N1 influenza. According to representatives of the department, in the event of outbreaks of infection, the diagnosis will be made on the basis of the clinical picture of the disease.
