Researchers have found that pregnant women exposed to insect sprays have a significantly increased risk of birth defects. This is especially true for women in the first trimester. We are talking about prenatal contraction of the urethra, which is recorded in every five hundredth newborn.

Scientists from Barcelona and London came to this conclusion. They compared 471 babies with hypospadias (absence of the distal part of the male urethra) with 490 born without this defect. The mothers of the children were interviewed. Their lifestyle was studied, including the use of various insecticide sprays and biocides.

It turned out that after using nebulizers in the first trimester, the risk of birth defects in a baby grows by 81%. Scientists have not determined which nebulizers are the most dangerous. This requires more research.
