Sarah Reinertsen breaks all sports records - without a leg

Sarah Reinertsen has run a marathon and competes in a triathlon. Missing her left leg doesn't stop her

This 34 year old woman

When she's not running, swimming, biking or rock climbing, Sarah is testing new prosthetics. She also communicates with soldiers who lost limbs in the war, inspiring them with her personal example. Sarah had a leg defect from birth, and at the age of 7, the girl decided to amputate an underdeveloped limb, from which there was no use anyway.

She saw her peers doing sports and asked her mother to buy her a uniform. Her parents taught her from childhood to the fact that the phrase “I can’t” should be excluded from the lexicon. But in this situation, they were powerless as they watched their daughter sit on the couch and throw the ball at the wall.

At the age of 11, she saw athletes with artificial limbs on TV and realized her calling. The next day, Sarah attached the sneakers to the prosthesis and went outside. And by the age of 16, she was already participating in the Paralympic Games in Barcelona.

"My example can help all people who have some kind of physical disability," says this brave woman. - You must break through the wall, overcome yourself, show that you have the right to live as richly and fully as everyone else. We are not disabled as long as passion and desire to live is seething in our soul.”
