American scientists told how you can instantly recognize flirting.
If a man or woman lowers their voice during a conversation, they may be flirting, according to Susan Hughes, a professor of psychology at Albright College in Reading. And if 80-90% of the art of flirting is still visual, this does not mean that it cannot be recognized at all by sounds either.
Hughes and colleagues tested 48 college students who used the Skype messenger. They recorded their voice messages while viewing videos of potential recipients. Professor Hughes expected women to raise their voices at the sight of a handsome man in order to appear more feminine and attractive to him, but this did not happen.
"We found that both sexes lowered their voices because they subconsciously perceived a quieter tone as an effective tool for flirting," Professor Hughes said. - There is a general stereotype that a sexy female voice should be sonorous, lower, and even with a characteristic breath. However, we have found that the actual flirting voice is generally quieter.”
