Denis Khokhryakov returned to Russia after being abandoned by foster parents from the Dominican Republic

Commissioner for Children's Rights Pavel Astakhov brought 12-year-old Denis Khokhrakov from the Dominican Republic, who was abandoned five years ago by foster parents. The boy will be sent to an orphanage, but Astakhov has already promised that in six years Denis will receive an apartment in Moscow. The boy will not return to his native Volgograd.

The story of Denis Khokhrakov raises many questions about the child adoption system in our country. He was born on October 13, 1998, his mother was soon deprived of parental rights, and nothing is known about his father at all. In 2003, Denis was taken from an orphanage and adopted by Sergey Sologub and Larisa Onoprienko, who took him to the Dominican Republic a year later.

After a few months, the boy's new parents handed him over to the family of the driver who worked for them, and then they completely went abroad. According to the local police, Sologub and Onoprienko sold the little Russian to a family of residents of the Dominican Republic. It is possible that drugs were paid for the child. After the “sale”, Khokhryakov’s adoptive parents got a house, a car and other items of prosperity.

The new family did not like Denis, they treated him harshly, and the local authorities took him to a temporary shelter. There he spent three and a half years, until the Russian Embassy began the procedure for returning the child to his homeland. By the way, as soon as Sologub and Onoprienko arrived in Russia, they were almost immediately arrested for drug trafficking. Actually, after this arrest, our authorities learned about the fate of poor Denis.

Pavel Astakhov believes that the boy's rehabilitation will take several months. The commissioner has already stated that Denis can find a new family if he expresses such a desire. The boy does not know Russian well, because for the last 6 years he has been spoken to in Spanish. All these years they called him Diego.
