Exactly one hundred years ago, on September 3, 1914, a patent was issued for the invention of a bra. The American Mary Phelps Jacob came up with and officially presented the delicate invention.
Of course, the history of this feminine item is rooted far back in history. Even in ancient Egypt, women used wide ribbons made of dense linen fabric, pulling the chest. Ancient Roman women under chitons and tunics wore leather belts - strophies. In the Middle Ages, European women were forced to wear heavy corsets with metal inserts to lift their breasts. Then there were T-shirts on the straps … But the design of the bra is very close to what is presented today in all underwear stores in the world, it was the American Mary Phelps Jacob who came up with it. Thank you Mary!
In 1932, the shape of the bra was changed, focusing on the depth of the cups. In 1935, manufacturers came up with pads that fit into a bra and give a woman's breasts fullness. In the same period, the numbering of cups from A to D was introduced. After the invention of nylon in 1938, not only natural materials, but also synthetics began to be used to make bras.
Today, a huge number of models are presented in lingerie stores: different styles, colors, textures. But it is so important to choose a bra that is not only beautiful, but also comfortable.
