August 8, 2015 on the territory of the Great Gostiny Dvor in St. Petersburg the grand opening of the International Academy of Music of Elena Obraztsova took place. The unique educational institution that the great singer dreamed of for many years will cultivate musical talents surrounded by the best mentors from around the world, many of whom are her students.
The solemn ceremony was accompanied by a gala concert at which Elena Vasilievna's daughter Elena Makarova sang, and the stars of the world opera scene, and the welcoming speech was delivered by the governor of St. Petersburg - Georgy Poltavchenko.
The opening of the Academy was made possible largely thanks to the good friends of Elena Obraztsova, among whom a special place is occupied by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bolshoi Gostiny Dvor - Nadezhda Pavlovna Tushakova. On her fragile shoulders lay the main work on the arrangement of the Academy and preparations for the opening.
