The boy's mother Paddy McQuirah began to notice her son's addiction to women's clothes and things. After several years of life, it has already become obvious to Lorna that her son is transgender. She recalls that even at the age of two, Paddy tied a large towel around his head, as if he had long hair, put on women's jewelry, picked up a handbag and walked around the house in this form.

Mom for a long time could not understand what was the reason for such metamorphoses of her boy. She blamed herself for the wrong upbringing of the baby and hoped that over time her son would lose interest in women's "tricks". But the years passed, and Peddis remained the same and even stated that he dreams of receiving a woman's dress as a gift.

After many years of internal torment, Lorna accepted her son for who he is. On the boy's eighth birthday, she gave him his first own dress and wrote a touching letter, which she later published on the Web.

“I had a little caterpillar: small, funny and almost blue, she reminded me of you. I loved her and fed her, gave her everything he needed, but she wanted to change. I had to come to terms with it. I loved her but wondered why I should say goodbye to her. She changed her shell, I was delighted, what else could I think? And also with you - there is no longer a little boy, but there is a beautiful butterfly. Sometimes I really miss my caterpillar boy, but the butterfly girl fills my heart with happiness,” the young mother wanted to use this metaphor to talk about her feelings and experiences associated with her son’s metamorphosis.

Lorna feels the need to share her experience with all parents who find themselves in a similar situation. In her opinion, everyone should love and be proud of their child no matter what.
