Ingredients:

  • Orange - 2 pcs
  • Poppy -75g
  • Semolina - 1 cup
  • Flour - 1 cup
  • Sugar - ½ cup
  • Soda-1 tsp
  • Corn starch - 30g
  • Vanilla sugar - 10g
  • Vegetable oil - 100 ml

For a 20 cm mold

Cooking method:

  1. Pour hot water into the container with poppy seeds and leave it for five minutes while we prepare everything else. We take two oranges and remove the skin with a knife, we will need the zest. Finely chop the zest with a knife to make small pieces, then in the dough it will be very tasty and very fragrant.
  2. Now let's make juice from the same oranges. The juice must be strained through a fine sieve to remove all the pulp, then the dough will be very loose and rise well.
  3. Drain the water from the poppy, as a result it has increased in volume and swelled. Now add sugar and mix well. And grind the poppy with a mortar to make a gruel. The poppy is rubbed to release the juice, then the poppy seeds become more fragrant and tastier. In addition, whole poppy seeds are simply not absorbed by our bodies.
  4. Now we take a large container, pour out the flour, semolina, cornstarch, soda and vanilla sugar, and here we send the chopped zest from two oranges. Stir with a spoon so that all the ingredients are mixed together and the mass becomes homogeneous. Pour in poppy seeds and mix thoroughly. Pour orange juice and odorless vegetable oil into a container with crumbs. The result should be a liquidy mass. Take a baking dish. I covered the bottom with parchment, and I will grease the sides with vegetable oil, it is more convenient to do this with a brush. Pour the batter into the mold and smooth it out gently. We send it to the oven preheated to 180 degrees. After 50 minutes, we take out and check the readiness with a wooden stick, it should be completely dry. We remove the sides of the form to let the cake cool down a little.
  5. The top can be soaked with orange juice by simply moistening the brush and brushing liberally over the entire top of the pie. It turns out a real cake, not a pie. Now it remains to transfer the cake to a serving dish and cut into portions beautifully. You can also sprinkle powdered sugar on top to decorate the cake.

Despite the fact that our pie is lean, it turns out incredibly tasty, airy and very tender.
